Take a look at the following formulas and create a DYNAMIC headline - for your business, website, social media post, advertising, etc. - that solves a problem, grabs attention and imprints your business name in the readers’ mind.

The examples in each formula make it easy to place your service or product in the headline to see what will be the best fit for you.

Headline Formula #1 - Who Else Wants…?

Starting a headline with “Who Else Wants…” is a classic ‘social proof’ strategy that connects with an existing desire or implied need. Universal needs – like more money and better health are powerful messages that people pay attention to but can get overused in the Internet marketing arena. Make your headline powerful but also specific to someone who would be interested in what you offer.
Examples:
• Who Else Wants the speed of a sportscar and the safety of an SUV?
• Who Else Wants a Higher Paying Job?
• Who Else Wants More Fun and Less Stress When on Vacation?

Headline Formula #2 - The Secret of/to…

This is an attention grabbing line that is popular with marketers because it works. As a general rule, people dislike the feeling that they are doing something wrong or missing out on something. When you plaster the word “secret” into what you’re offering – you are telling potential customers that you are sharing insider knowledge that they might not be able to get anywhere else.
Examples:
• The Secret of Creating Viral Videos on YouTube
• The Secret to Getting More Fans on Facebook
• The Secret of Getting Rich Doing What You Love!

Headline Formula #3 - Here is a Method that is Helping…

When it comes down to the basics of selling you must go beyond the features of your product or service and answer the question that EVERY customer wants to know…”What’s in it for me?” This formula focuses on how what you’re offering to your target audience will benefit them directly.
Examples:
• Here is a Method That is Helping Homeowners Save Hundreds on Insurance
• Here is a Method That is Helping Children Learn to Read Faster
• Here is a Method That is Helping New Writers Sell MORE Books.

Headline Formula #4 - Little Known Ways to…

This headline is a more intriguing (and less common) way to accomplish the same goals of headline formula #2 - “The Secret of…” headline. Again this is all about creating a desire to know the information being provided and exclusivity that you are the only one offering it.
Examples:
• Little Known Ways to Save Money When Shopping at the Grocery Store
• Little Known Ways to Hack Google’s Gmail the Legal Way
• Little Known Ways to Lose Weight Like the Movie Stars do (& it’s safe!)

Headline Formula #5 - Get Rid of [insert problem] Once and For All

This is a classic formula that identifies either a painful problem or an unfulfilled desire that the reader wants to remedy. The more intense and specific you are here – the more your customer can relate.
Examples:
• Get Rid of the Foods that are Killing You Once and For All
• Get Rid of That Stubborn Carpet Stain Once and For All
• Get Rid of That Lame Mullet Hairdo Once and For All

Headline Formula #6 - Here’s a Quick Way to…

People love easy answers when it comes to solving a nagging problem but knowing that it’s not going to take them a lot of time to achieve the end result adds further benefit.
Examples:
• Here’s a Quick Way to Lose 5 Pounds for Your Reunion
• Here’s a Quick Way to Potty Train Your Little Boy
• Here’s a Quick Way to Backup Your Hard Drive at Home

Headline Formula #7 - Now You Can Have…

This is the classic “have your cake and eat it too” headline — and who doesn't want that?
Examples:
• Now You Can Quit Your Job and Make Even More Money
• Now You Can Meet Sexy Singles Online Without Spending a Dime
• Now You Can Own a Cool Mac Computer and Still Run Windows

Headline Formula #8 - Do something like…

Gatorade milked this one fully with the “Be Like Mike” campaign featuring Michael Jordan in the early 1990s. You can use it successfully too!
Examples:
• Speak Spanish Like a Diplomat
• Invest Your Money Like Warren Buffet
• Blog Like an A-Lister

Headline Formula #9 - Have/Build a ….You Can Be Proud Of

This headline appeals to vanity, dissatisfaction, or shame. No need to say more.
Examples:
• Build a Lean Body You Can Be Proud Of
• Have a White Smile You Can Be Proud Of
• Build a Facebook Page You Can Be Proud Of

Headline Formula #10 - What Everybody Ought to Know About…

This headline creates a big curiosity draw and it acts almost as a challenge to the reader to go ahead and see if they are missing something.
Examples:
• What Everybody Ought to Know About Owning a Handgun
• What Everybody Ought to Know About Adjustable Rate Mortgages
• What Everybody Ought to Know About Unclogging Your Sink

Where to use your headlines?

Once you have your headline created (and it’s quite possible you have a few good ones) – you need to make sure these are prominent in your marketing. Don’t hide your headline at the bottom of your website – place it right at the top. Make sure it’s the first thing people read in your ad. Headlines attract the potential client to your service or product. An effective headline helps communicate what you offer by demonstrating how it fulfills a need or by peaking their curiosity to read on.

As many marketers point out – the goal of a headline is to get people to read more, learn more and eventually buy. Choose wisely, my friend and the world can be yours!

Why is this good?
This is good news because Yahoo will soon make those inactive ID's available to new users.

Why this complicates things?

In a statment made to Wired, Yahoo is taking precautions to securely close these accounts. The actions include:

Sending bounce back emails to alert senders that the account has been deactivated and no longer exists.

Automatically unsubscribing deactivated accounts from commercial email databases including newsletters and email alerts.

Once deactivation is complete, they will send notification of these recycled accounts to merchants, financial institution, email providers, social networks and e-commerce sites.

If you are a business who maintains an email database, it's likely that you have contacts with Yahoo email addresses. If you have contacts with inactive emails, this current change could affect (or be affecting) you in several ways.

You may notice a higher than usual opt out rates.

You may receive a notification from Yahoo when trying to email a deactivated account.

New users who begin using a previously deactivated account could report your email as SPAM

What Should I do?
Many email providers and email marketing clients are aware of this issue so any uptick in opt outs and SPAM may be "forgiven" during this time but you should still be proactive to preserve your email reputation.

Make sure all emails have an "unsubscribe" link at the top or bottom of the email

Monitor contacts with yahoo emails that have never been opened or have not been opened in the last 12 months and remove them from your database

Be sure that you are getting permission for all email contacts that you market to and avoid buying outdated email lists

If you are worried that your account might be one of these that are deactivated - we suggest logging in to you Yahoo product immediately. And if you are wanting a specific"short, sweet and memorable" Yahoo ID - go check - it might be available!
No one. Wise entrepreneurs learn from their mistakes and the mistakes of others...including the wild and crazy world of social media. The following are 5 mistakes that can set your social media campaign back. We don't want that to happen to you so take a moment to "learn" from these tips (we sure wish someone would have mentioned these in the beginning).

Mistake #1 - No Plan
Imagine if you started a business without a mission or business plan. Imagine you didn't know who your potential customer was or what products you were going to sell. Do you think it could be a recipe for disaster? The same goes for your social media. Take the time to plan your strategy BEFORE you dive in to posts and status updates. It will keep you focused in the long run and allow you more success.

Mistake #2 - Picking the Wrong Platforms
You can drive yourself crazy trying to manage twenty different social media sites and the odds are - unless you have a whole social media team - you won't excel at any of them because you are spread too thin. The idea is quality vs. quantity. Part of your Plan (stated above) is to consider where do your potential customers hang out. Is it Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Pinterest, YouTube? Ask your clients and narrow your focus down to one or two sites.

Mistake #3 - Tracking & Tweaking
Social media as a business is not a "just for fun" tactic. This is a legitimate marketing venue. Just like coupons, advertising and other marketing ploys, you have to measure your success to know how it's working. If you don't track what you are doing and make changes when you see success or failure - you're wasting your time. Most of the social sites offer analytics and there are free resources available.

Mistake #4 - "Push" Selling
When you spend all of your time pushing your followers and fans to buy - their going to do the opposite. They'll unfollow or unlike you and odds are, they're never coming back. Social media is about building a community and providing valuable information. Think about those potential customers and what they are interested in. Do they like DIY tips, quotes, funny images, special discounts, contests etc.? Give them what they want (integrated around your business/industry of course) and soon you'll be engaged in "pull" marketing which creates a much stronger relationship. They'll WANT to buy from you and will probably share those feelings with their friends too.

Mistake #5 - Thinking this is Easy
Social media is a huge venue for business and because there are so many tools available, it's easy to get sucked in to thinking this is all a piece of cake. It isn't. Creating a social media platform that engages with followers and nudges them on their way to becoming customers is HARD WORK. You didn't start your business without education of some kind, right? It's time to start learning the tricks of the trade and educating yourself so you can maximize your social media plan.

BONUS MISTAKE <--- (Quite possibly the biggest of them all!)
Giving Up Too Soon
There is no getting around it - social media takes time. Success won't happen overnight and if you're only spending a few minutes a day on your posts, it's going to take a long, long time to reap rewards. Expect to dedicate at least an hour a day to your social media marketing. Social media is about building relationships and there is no shortcut to creating trust. Remember, you have a plan and you are going to need to dedicate at least 6 to 9 months to achieve measurable results. Don't quit just yet!

Facebook has been modifying their security and enhancements over the last few months. Now they have updated their advertising guidelines in response to some concerns over the placements of ads.

Facebook posted the following statement - “Beginning [today], we will implement a new review process for determining which pages and groups should feature ads alongside their content. This process will expand the scope of Pages and Groups that should be ad-restricted. By the end of the week, we will remove ads from all Pages and Groups that fall into this new, more expansive restricted list.”

This review in process was made in response to some concerns from larger companies who advertise on Facebook who noticed that their ads were appearing alongside other ads containing inappropriate content. This kind of placement makes users doubt the validity of the company or ads and are less likely to click-through. Facebook will now evaluate and restrict ads that contain sexual, graphic or violent content. They have posted their community guidelines for business' reference which all advertisers are asked to comply.

Facebook has grown into a large and expansive social network which complicates the process of monitoring page content for validity and appropriateness. This enhanced security is just another step in which the social giant is working to ensure that the personal Facebook experience aligns with their interests which in turn keeps the value high for companies looking to advertise.

Remember - you can report an ad as inappropriate which will help Facebook continue to improve your experience.
Visit www.Qlixite.com for more free tool in our Biz Tool Vault.

"You're going to like the way you look. I guarantee it." ~ George Zimmer

Over the last four decades, the founder of Men's Wearhouse has shined in the spotlight with his well priced men's fine clothing and deep bravado signature phrase...until last week when the Board of Directors fired him.

It can be emotional and disheartening to watch an icon of an industry dispelled by his own company. How could something like this happen? How can a brand built by a man who regularly embraces his image (Zimmer was forefront in most of the company's advertising) decide to fire their shining star.

This is where we - as fellow business owners - must take note. We are all striving for growth in our own endeavors. We want our company to be successful and earn recognition. Often one of the biggest struggles for start-ups is financial capital and so many of us are more than thrilled when the opportunity to gain investors appears. But just as there is reward...there is risk when you give away the control of your company. George Zimmer is feeling the pains of those risks now.

When someone becomes an investor or shareholder in your company - you are taking on a partner. With each additional investor - you give away a portion of your control of your company. While a founder may retain the largest portion of stock at first - this can soon become a weaker controlling interest when IPO's and investment growth occurs quickly.

Some suggestions to ensure you make the best decisions for your company:

Always, always, always ask an attorney about your options and possible outcomes. The more you know - the better informed you will be as you direct your company through growth phases.

Grow Slowly and operate within your means. This sounds a little like advise that a financial planner might give to a family but it remains true for a business. The more you control your assets and stay on top of your expenses - the less you will need from other investors.

Create dual classes of stocks. If you do need to offer shares, you can choose to create one set of stocks which have limited voting power (available to the public) and another for your founders, executives and family members which has the dominate controlling interest.

All of us started our businesses for a reason. Perhaps it was a dream - a vision that your idea could become a steady income for your family or even change the world. Or maybe you wanted to create a start-up that could gain popularity so that a bigger company could buy it. To keep up good spirits we are just
putting the promotions below without naming the company offering the
coupon.

Good Coupons are
'Good' because they accomplish a Goal & Increase
Sales

• Spend
$20 and get a $10 Gift Card - (Gift Shop) Granted ten dollars isn't
huge but the amount I have to spend isn't too large either...plus guess what - I
have to come back in a second time to spend my ten dollar gift card. Two visits
for the price of one.
•
Everything Ships for $2.99 - (Online Box Store) This might not
be such a big discount if I'm buying jewelry or a scarf but the company also
sells furniture and appliances. Granted I'm sure they have built in shipping
costs in their prices but the point is - it catches your attention that you
could have a couch shipped for under three dollars.
• 25% Off - No Exclusions -
(Department Store) This is a big eye catcher for me because it says there is no
fine print. It's a coupon they only offer twice a year but you can bet I am
looking for it every time and ready to shop when it hits.
• Free Regular Maintenance Included
for 2 Years - (Car Dealer) If I do an estimation that regular car check
ups and oil changes usually runs from $300 to $500 depending on the brand, this
is enticing especially because I know that I will be comfortable getting the car
looked at regularly which increases re-sale value.
• Family Plan - Flat Rate for Up to 5
People - (Chiropractor) I included this because if you are the type of
business that can give group discounts - go for it! Its a great incentive to get
the whole family to shop with you which will only instill more buyer
loyalty.

Bad Coupons are 'Bad'
because they don't motivate for a response.

• 40% Off Any Single Regularly Priced
Item - (Craft Store) This might not be such a bad coupon except for the
ad said "Everything is On Sale" right above it.
• We Pay the Sales Tax -
(Hardware Store) Unless your tax rate is near 15% (yikes!) then in many cases
this is less than a ten percent savings. This doesn't inspire me personally
since my tax rate is 7.25% where I live and my $50 purchase would only get me
$3.62 off.
• 10%
Off - (Variety) Many businesses will probably be mad that I'm saying
this kind of coupon is 'bad' but I'm being honest. If your price point only
allows is an occasional 10% off discount then you might want to rethink your
price point. Structure your prices so that you can offer a discount that
motivates me to buy. Remember - look at what other companies are doing and what
works.

Ugly Coupons are
'Ugly' because they not only don't accomplish their goal - they actually motivate
people to not shop or use the business!

• $1.00 Off an Office Visit -
(Health Office) An office visit is a minimum of $35 so this is less than 3% Off
which is a bit insulting.
•
25% Off for New Clients - (Hair Salon) Fabulous discount except
I'm a current customer so I don't get to use it. This gets ugly when they never
offer a current customer discount. Makes me want to Salon hop which is not a
good thing.
• $25 Off
a Purchase of $200 - (Sporting Goods Store) This might be okay if I
were going to purchase equipment except this discount is not valid on equipment,
appliances, shoes, and many other 'high price point items.' This is an ugly
coupon because it's deceptive and too much work to redeem. When competitors
offer better prices or better coupons then you will lose
business.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Create a Coupon Strategy and Go For
It!
If you want to do a semi annual or annual deep discount
coupon then plan it out and market accordingly. If you want people to
consistently check your website or store for coupons then offer a variety and
<span style="color: #5c900f; font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">consistently
market<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> them.
Look at what larger companies in your industry or ones like yours are doing. If
it works for them - it might work for you! Whatever you decide - plan it out and
execute it. That doesn't mean you can't modify your plan as you find coupons
that work or fail. It means you are taking an active role in this side of your
marketing strategy.
Visit www.Qlixite.com for more free tool in our Biz Tool Vault.

As a business owner, new leads are valuable assets that drive your bottom line in the right direction. Every lead in your pipeline (or store) arrived as a result of a variety of marketing avenues used to get them to your door.

Using video on your website effectively can maximize your business marketing and followup process for new leads so you can make more $$$.

According to Business.com, there are 8 steps to earning and converting a sale:

Prospecting

Planning

Approach

Need Assessment

Presentation

Meeting Objections

Gaining Commitment

Follow-Up

Using Video is great for Prospecting, Presentation, Meeting Objections, and Gaining Commitment.

Using Video for Efficient Prospecting

Video can not only help bring leads to your website, it can help keep people on your site longer. A recent study conducted by Score.orge shows that 60% of web visitors who found a video on a website WATCHED the video. Imagine if you could guarantee that 60% of people you met on the street listened to your sales presentation. You'd love to have 6 out of 10 people agree to be sold too, right? Exactly. In a study by Attivio, websites that added video attracted 3 times as many visitors to the video pages, with the website as a whole receiving 157% more organic traffic from search engines.

You can also promote your business by using video on social media sites like Facebook and YouTube. If you've got a killer video, you might even get lucky enough to have a video go “viral” which can draw thousands of visitors to your website.

Remember: The most effective prospecting videos are quick, simple, and highly informative. “How-To” videos are very popular and humor is always a plus. Keep your video to 90 seconds or less.

Making Presentations with Video

Video is a great venue to introduce your business, products or services through a presentation. Many businesses are modifying their homepage fornatting to include a simple “explainer video”, quickly explaining who they are and what they offer. When Dropbox switched to a video-based homepage, their conversion rates increased by 10%.

In a study by the Institute of Education and Technology, subjects retained over 50% more information when they watched a video vs. reading text.

Remember: Make your video memorable and easy to understand. Use clear graphics and audio so that your video communicates your professionalism.

Using Video to Meet Customer Objections

Though selling products and services online has becoming increasingly common, people can still be hesitant to buy products and services online. The more comfortable and well informed your customer feels about your business, the more likely they are to buy.

In a survey by Internet Retailer, 52% of respondents said that watching product videos makes them feel more confident in their online purchase decisions.

Gain Commitment with Video

The most important part of the sales process is completing the sale. Can video help convince your customers to buy?

Absolutely. Business.com reports that statistical data can vary – Comscore claims that customers are 64-85% more likely to make a purchase after watching a product video, while Retail Touchpoints claims that video increases conversion rates by a whopping 174%. Regardless of the exact percentage, study after study shows that customers who watch video are more likely to buy. It’s that simple.

Don’t let your valuable leads go to waste. Use video in your marketing efforts, on your homepage, and on all your product pages. This will ensure that your web traffic, retention, and conversion rates all reap the benefits of video.
Visit www.Qlixite.com for more free tool in our Biz Tool Vault. <span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms";">The process of adding social badges and links to your email signature will vary depending on your email provider. This will cover the basic steps but feel free to call us if you have questions.

Step 1 - Gather your social links
You will need to know the URL of the social media pages or website you would like to link to. (hint: URL's start with http:// or https://) Have these handy in a text document so you can copy and paste.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms";">
Step 2 - Open your email client & take the steps necessary to modify your signature for outgoing messages
Depending on your email provider this may be listed under options or customize settings. Have you filed your taxes yet? The deadline is just around the corner so odds are - the stress is building. Whether you use a popular tax software, file by mail or online or hire a professional tax service - these 6 tips will help save you time and money.

1. Planning Ahead Saves Money - Many business owners put off filing their taxes until the last minute, but procrastinating can cost you extra. As the deadline approaches you may start to notice that tax preparation costs increase. Late filers are often disorganized which can result in extra late fees and missed deductions. Know your standard and corporate tax deadlines so you can plan ahead and be confident with your preparations.
2. Proper Documentation - Everyone dreads getting audited so it's best to start out on the right foot. Be sure you have proper documentation to substantiate your claims. Save copies of your tax return as well as receipts and any other paperwork used to prepare your taxes for 3 years. Proper documentation insures you are filing accurate tax forms and will save you the headache in the unfortunate event that you are audited.

3. Pick the Right Professional - Professional tax preparation can be an invaluable asset to businesses and individuals with complex personal finances. If you decide to employ a professional tax preparer, find someone who is reputable, local and always make sure they sign the return.

4. Go Digital and Save - In many cases, filing your taxes onlines saves you money plus the IRS and Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) offer direct deposit for refund payments. The earlier you file the faster you can get your refund via direct deposit.

5. Keep Personal Info Secure - Remember that your tax information includes personal identifying information as well. Keep all documents and sensitive information on non-public computers and devices (like discs or jump drives). Always use a secure Wi-fi network to transmit information and beware of emailing to unsecured mailboxes. Tax returns are targeted by identity thieves so it pays to be cautious.

6. Beware of Scams - Tax scams can come in all shapes and sizes and even from people you trust. Be cautious and stay informed and ALWAYS read before signing any legal document.

As Ben Franklin so infamously put it, "In this world, nothing can be said to be certain except death and taxes." While I don't believe one should dwell on death - let's spend more time making our business sucess more 'certain' and less time worrying about taxes.
Visit www.Qlixite.com for more free tool in our Biz Tool Vault. Customers....we love 'em right? We're in business to deal with customers and clients (no customers = no business) but sometimes it can be frustrating figuring out exactly what they want. And just when we think we have our customers nailed down...they still don't buy! What's the deal?
Problem: Customers...Lie!
Without sounding too harsh, ask a customer about pricing, competition, satisfaction and what they tell you...is probably not true. Why? As humans, we don't like confrontation and your customer is no different. Put someone on the spot and they are likely to give you the answer you want to hear. Most customers don't want to admit that your product is too expensive or that they like your competitor better or that your specials are on the products they don't need. They won't say a word but they also won't buy or renew or upgrade. So what do we do?
Solution: Coach Your Staff (and Yourself) to Ask & LISTEN
We all know that when someone asks you, "how are you doing today?" - it's usually not an invitation to spill the beans on all of your problems. If you want to get real customer feedback, you need to ask the right questions - questions that require more than one word answers and invite honesty.
Why it Works: Quantity = Trends = The Truth!
The more people you talk to, the more you're likely to notice a pattern. This truthful feedback can be used to increase your sales and conversion. Customers might not always be "right" but if you take the time to listen - they do have the "answers" you need.
I recently visited a website for a potential client who was taking advantage of our website review. She's a dentist who wants to get leads from her site but has not had one call over the last 5 years. It took me less than 5 minutes to figure out her main problem...no call to action.
Problem: Want More Leads from Your Website?
Many websites do not make it easy to do anything more than read. There's usually plenty of text and maybe some pictures but then what? Why should I stick around? How do I get started? Ask yourself these questions when looking at your business' website (specifically your home page) and then think about what kind of elements would make your customer "click." You don't want people to just "hang out" and look at your site. You want people to engage with your business which requires an effective call to action.

Solution: Add Compelling Calls to Action
A call to action is a feature on your website that demands a response from the visitor. It can be a button, linked text or a special graphic that is enticing. In a less-than-subtle way, it says "look at me" and in an equally overt manner it says "click here." Calls to action should not be hidden - they must stand out and grab attention in less than 5 seconds (that's usually how much time you get to make a web visitor take action.
This is a joke we thought we'd share. We thought it fully illustrated the difficulties that can come with naming your business...not to mention it's pretty funny too. Not sure who wrote it. Rated PG13
Subject: The Psychiatrist and the Proctologist

Best friends graduating from medical school at the same time decided that in spite of two different specialties, they would open a practice together to share office space and personnel.

Dr. Smith was the psychiatrist and Dr. Jones was the proctologist; they put up a sign reading: Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones: Hysterias and Posteriors.

The town council was livid and insisted they change it.

The docs changed it to read: Schizoids and Hemorrhoids. This was also not acceptable so they again changed the sign to read Catatonics and High Colonics - no go. Next they tried Manic Depressives and Anal Retentives - thumbs down again. Then came Minds and Behinds - still no good. Another attempt resulted in Lost Souls and Butt Holes - unacceptable again! So they tried Nuts and Butts - no way. Freaks and Cheeks - still no good. Loons and Moons - forget it.

Almost at their wit's end, the docs finally came up with:

Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones - Specializing in Odds and Ends.

Everybody loved it.

Entrepreneurs aren't born overnight - one day you have an idea and it builds until you launch your 'dream job.' Your very own start-up small business can be exciting and scary. Figuring out how to fund your business usually falls into the 'scary' category.

A successful small business requires money to sustain it and investment to grow it. Of course, securing investors is difficult so small business owners usually rely on a business loan or line of credit to supplement initial business growth.

This means a bank is going to look at YOU and your Credit to determine if you business is viable. Your credit does not have to be perfect to get a loan or line of credit to start a business but obviously - the better your history the higher your chances are to obtain financing.

According to the Small Business Administration (SBA) - "About half of small businesses fail within the first five years." Even if your type of business is blessed with low start-up costs and low overhead - odds are you will need an option to supplement the business when added funds are required.

Assessing Your Business Risk

New entrepreneurs often make the mistake of thinking that by registering a corporation they can secure credit by only using their new business Tax Id. This is not entirely accurate. A bank will usually determine eligibility by using your personal social security number. Banks will evaluate your personal credit history as a factor for how risky it would be to lend money to your business. Each bank uses their own proprietary risk formula, which is often based on a model devised by Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE: FICO). The better your credit scores, the higher the chance your small business will have longevity.

Credit History Shows Trends
While a lender may consider your assets and equity, your own personal debt repayment habits can influence the size and type of loan or credit extension your business may receive. It can also affect the percentage rate of interest as well. Higher risk can equal a much higher rate which can cost your business thousands of dollars. For instance a 5% difference (10% compared to 15%) in APR on a $20,000 debt carried for five years can add up to a difference of over $3,000.

Be sure to review your financial history before considering funding for your business. This allows you to check for negative reports, errors or identity theft issues that could jeopardize your chances of getting funding. If you do have negative issues on your credit, you may need to wait until they are older or any disputes are resolved before taking your new small business to the next level.

Lending is Still Personal
If you do have a tarnished credit history - all hope is not lost. Just because you have personally made a mistake in the past does not automatically disqualify your chances. If you have some equity in your new business, this can positively influence the decision of a lender because obviously - you are an investor who wants it to succeed!

Start developing a consistent pattern and take a proactive approach to improve your personal credit score now. This will not only help your future business - but you as well!
Visit www.Qlixite.com for more free tool in our Biz Tool Vault. A Word about Pixels...
A pixel is a unit of measurement used in digital imaging. It is the smallest controllable element of a picture represented on a digital screen.

The expression "Think outside the box," is synonymous with creativity, innovation and ideas. Everyone is looking for the next 'big idea' that could take a company from one among the crowd to leading the way to a whole new adventure. But as small business owners - we tend to think that in order to think outside the box - we have to have lots of...everything! We need more employees, more clients, more products and definately more money! Not true! Thinking outside the box is about fresh ideas and branching out from [your] normal mode of operation. You are perfectly primed to get your creative hat on BECAUSE you're a small business.

But here are some steps to get you out of the box.

Step 1 - Identify Opportunites
Opportunities lie everywhere you look in your business. Maybe it's your system of advertising, your style of customer service or the way you display your services. Start paying attention to your business flow and identify areas that are stale or where the 'same old, same old' isn't working like it used to.

Step 2 - Get Your Team Involved
Whether your business is made up of just you or a whole sales force - you have a team of people who support your business. This could include family, friends, managers, employees etc. These people want to see your business succeed. Get them involved in your crusade to think outside the box. Ask them to start thinking about areas that need work and encourage them to do so.

Step 3 - Focus on One Area
So now that you've been looking for opportunities for improvement - it's time to attack one. Pick an area or aspect of your business to focus on. Set a brainstorming meeting with your team and tell them the topic you guys are going to work on so they can hone their thoughts. Now your job is to focus on what you want to accomplish by attacking this one opportunity. Having a goal will help your team. If you want a different kind of customer - define who this person is. If you want to double the number of people who come to an event - be specific.

Step 4 - Unleash the Brainstorm
Get your team together and have a brainstorming session about how to improve your area of focus. Nothing is off the table here (unless it doesn't have anything to do with the opportunity). Don't worry about budget or the current system. No idea is a bad idea and brainstorming sessions tend to work better if the mood is light or funny. Give people crayons to write their ideas down. Print out a picture that illustrates your goal. Make your staff where goofy party 'thinking' hats. Sometimes it helps to have a word bowl (a bowl with random words written on pieces of paper) which can be picked from to stimulate new ideas - and possibly some humerous ones.

Step 5 - Practice & Polish
It make take some practice to hone the brainstorming skills of you and your team. Go for quantity versus quality. Get the creativity muscles working and the more you offer chances for unleashed ideas - the more easily they appear. Worried about funding your holidays because of the recession? Thinking about
cutting back? While saving for the rainy day might be smart in a tough economy,
it definitely doesn't make for a fun holiday season. Therefore, it's important
to take action now and learn how to recession proof your holidays so you can
enjoy them.

Tip #1 Potluck your holiday meals
When
getting together with family, friends or co-workers for holiday meals and
parties, don't take on the burden of paying for the entire meal. Let your guests
bring their favorite holiday dish. Make it fun by having a contest or making it
a recipe swap.

Tip #2 Raid the Local Dollar Store or
Goodwill
You will be surprised by the kinds of holiday items they sell
including wrapping paper, wreaths, ornaments, table runners and stocking
stuffers. These small items can really add up at major retailers so saving here can
allow you to spend more on bigger presents for your loved ones.

Tip
#3 Cash in those Coupons
Stores like Safeway and Walgreens are
really into giving out coupons that are based on your shopping habits. These
could be printed on the bottom of your receipt or emailed to you so be sure to
look before you shred. Stock up on dry goods as they go on sale ahead of time to
spread out the expense of holiday meals and treats.

Tip
#4 Budget now, Enjoy later
Figure out what you plan on spending for
gifts, parties and events now and figure out how much you need to save between
now and then. Use this extra time to cut back on Starbucks trips, lunch outings,
movies or excess purchases. The .............money you save by cutting a few
things over the next few weeks will add up and feel less like a sacrifice.

Tip #5 Sell your junk on eBay
Ebay is like a garage sale
that reaches every corner of the earth someone might want your stuff! This is
the perfect time to get rid of that stuff you keep but never use. You'll get the
best bang for your buck if you do a little research to see if people are looking
for your particular items by searching eBay. All the money you make can go
towards funding your holidays or paying the credit card bills.

Bonus Tip
Focus on the Positive of the Holidays - Whatever
you do, don’t focus all of your thoughts on the negativity of the recession.
Doing so will cause you needless worry and self sabotage. Approach any money
saving efforts with a light heart. If you take them too seriously, it will make
it feel like a “dreaded” chore. Spend time talking with your family and
visualizing a happy holiday season so that everyone is working together. Prepare
your kids and family members if there are gifts or parties you won’t be able to
participate in or make it a group goal to save now to be able to enjoy later.
Good Luck (You can do it!)
Visit www.Qlixite.com for more free tool in our Biz Tool Vault. This has many business owners looking at their own brand and wondering if there is merit to this trend.

Deven Wenig, president of eBay, had this to say about the logo:

Our refreshed logo is rooted in our proud history and reflects a dynamic future. It’s eBay today: a global online marketplace that offers a cleaner, more contemporary and consistent experience, with innovation that makes buying and selling easier and more enjoyable. We retained core elements of our logo, including our iconic color palette. Our vibrant eBay colors and touching letters represent our connected and diverse eBay community – more than 100 million active users and 25 million sellers globally and growing.

Obviously when a business decides to change their logo - risk is involved as well as re-branding numerous products including everything from websites to sales materials to the sign on the building. However, as most small businesses look to the big names as examples, it's hard to miss the current trend.

Simple...is in!

What do I mean? Well let's look at some recent big name logo changes.

Starbucks

It's meager beginnings in Seattle are the stuff of legend and while you can find their iconic coffee house seemingly everywhere these days, Starbucks has become more than just a place to get a cup of joe. This is the very reason Starbucks claims they made the logo change in early 2011. To be fair, this was the fourth logo remodel in forty years but it was one major detail that had people fuming. The coffee giant removed the words "Starbucks Coffee." Was this a smart move? Simplifying a logo to simple, flat color for more ease of use on products and marketing materials is often implemented but should you remove your company name? The controversy can still be found in forums and chat rooms but for the most part - people are still buying coffee and scones and enjoying free wi-fi in their local Starbucks.

Microsoft

In August of this year, Microsoft rolled out a new logo - the first change in 25 years. The black typeface synonymous with the computer giant has been it's identity since 1987 although it has been accompanied by the 'colorful windows' or flag icon in many different forms. In fact it's the flag modification that is quickly noticable. Gone is the sweeping, dimensional image, replaced by four color squares that represent the company's products. A microsoft spokeswoman has since released a statement that the "flag" was never officially part of the Microsoft logo, and that this is the first time Microsoft has added a symbol - the four squares - to its company logo. Still - formally or not - Microsoft had a 'look' that has become drastically more simple. Was it the right move?

Transformations Can Be Successful (While Others Can Confuse)

Of course, remodeling a company logo is not a new trend. It's been going on for years and there are some companies who have been wildly successful at it. For example: Apple first set out to simplify it's rainbow apple icon so that it would be easier to display on their products (a pretty good reason to consider changing a logo especially when you are a product producing company). So Apple went stark and simple and it worked. They've sinced added a little glitz and style to their apple which has maintained their company image while enhancing the elegance of their products.

Now while some find a remodel can refine a company image - in other cases it can confuse the customer. An example is JC Penney who has morphed from a stylized box to a hollow square and letters that barely resemble their initial image. Will this transformation be for the better? We'll see.

Small Business Take Away

It's hard to ignore this trend of simple, flat color, two-dimensional logo designs. When it comes to your own business brand - make sure your logo sends the right message and represents your company accurately. If your logo could use a little remodel - then do some research. What are other industry names doing? Are their logo's simple like Starbucks, Ebay, Microsoft, Apple and JC Penny? If so, it's possible you could be better served with a simple logo design.
The 'big game' draws more attention than other events such as a politial debate, breaking international news or even a natural disaster. As a country, we're probably not ashamed to say it - we're sports obesessed. We applaud and celebrate the shot, the stop, the drive...the winning play that made history. Some even experience agony when their beloved team does the unthinkable...they lose.

There are critics who argue that sports pay hommage to inflated salaries and offer a distraction from real life but when it comes to business - sports might have a few points worth taking notice.

Goal Oriented Excellence

Every year, thirty-two NFL teams compete for the chance to be in the Super Bowl (one of the most watched televised events ever). Thirty MLB teams take aim at a shot of playing in the World Series. For Basketball, it's all about the Finals and for Hockey, the Stanley Cup reigns supreme. The winners receive praise, parades, record book titles, tons of confetti and possibly a shower from a cooler full of gatorade.

How does this translate to business? These teams all set out with a very clear goal in mind. Sure, for some teams it's a more reachable achievement but even for the lowest ranking team - it's a tangeable and measureable objective. Does your business have this kind of focus every quarter? year? Do you give your team (employees, managers, sales force) clear direction to achieve excellence? Most businesses just focus on the daily, weekly or monthly sales figures but employees are more likely to work together and perform consistently (or even raise their level of performance) if there is a substantial goal in sight. AND the reward has got to be worth it. People don't perform for a pat on the back. They like to feel like their efforts are appreciated and important.

Business Take-away: Give your team a measurable goal that offers a substantial reward if achieved.

Individual Recognition

We cheer on our teams to win but lets not forget that we equally celebrate individual performance. Awards are given for specific achievements in team roles (offense or defense or position) as well as overal 'valuable' contribution to the season and usually results in...drumroll...more money. Ooooh yes, we did just use the 'M' word which we understand every small business owner obsesses over. We know you might be cringing at the idea of offering a monetary bonus for individual performance but hear us out.

Fran Tarkington, NFL Hall of Famer and Entrepreneur says, "The best in sports are celebrated because they've earned it. It's a pure meritocracy and if you can perform, then you will be rewarded."

This is what you are already doing. You started your business believing that if you came up with innovative ideas, put in hard work and long hours to build a business that delivers value to customers - that you will be rewarded. People will continue coming back to your business for it's value and customer experience and you will actually make a profit and possibly grow into a bigger business. You already believe in meritocracy! You're employees believe it too and most will be willing to step up their game if they believe you'll notice and reward them for it.

Business Take-away: Give your employees individual goals as well as group goals.

Exercise Meritocracy

We can hear you. "Yes, but I don't have the money to offer financial incentives." We understand. We're all in the same boat. Is there an easy answer? Yes, though you may not like it.

<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: large;">If you want to be a big(ger) business - you need to think like one FIRST.

Becoming a bigger and more successful requires you to think outside of your small business box. Push your standards of thinking. What would you do differently if money wasn't the issue? We're not asking you to go broke. We're asking you to think about ways to motivate your team to perform beyond their current level. That requires an incentive. You could even create levels of incentive.

For example: "If we hit this sales goal - you get this bonus but if we hit this higher level - a bigger bonus." Crunch the numbers. If your team is increasing productivity, you're business is making more money. And these new customers are going to stick around if you guys keep up the effort so the rewards can compound. You're the team owner and you have to get your coaches (managers) and team (employees) to want your business to grow just as much as you.

Cheaters Never Prosper

One thing to remember is that if you try to short-cut or cheat this process - it could backfire on you. As the team manager of your business, you need to offer development and training programs (just like the big businesses do) to give your employees the tools for success. Setting someone up to fail - especiialy to avoid paying out the incentive - will backfire on you. You may think your reputation among your clients is important but it is equally imperative that your repuation among your employees is golden. That doesn't mean that they have to like you personally but you want them to WANT to perform for you.

Business Take-away: Start out on the right foot and your small business is sure to score big points not only in your bottom line but among your team as well.
Visit www.Qlixite.com for more free tool in our Biz Tool Vault.

At some point - as an entrepreneur - you will need to speak. You cannot hide in the background forever - whether it's introducing yourself at a business meet up or presenting to your staff - you will need to speak in front of a group of people. Odds are you will need to sell a product or a service or an idea and it all hinges on this one speech. After you read our 10 tips below - you'll be speaking like a pro!

Before You Speak

1. What do they want? How can you help them specifically?

Most polished public speakers will tell you that the first question you should always ask yourself before taking a speaking job is "Does this audience want what I've got?" Now, you're not exactly a professional public speaker but that doesn't mean you can't learn from the pros. Even when making a presentation to a leads group or Chamber of Commerce - know your audience. What do they need? What do you offer that will make a difference to them. Audiences are self-centered so everything you say needs to be tuned to what they need to hear.

2. Dress the part without raising yourself to high above the audience

We just said that the audience is mostly concerned about themselves so the last thing you want to do is increase the distance between you and them. One mistake people make is dressing inappropriately. This can mean wearing a polo shirt to a room full of people in suits or wearing your most expensive suit when talking to an audience of low income individuals. Speaking events are about the audience so be approachable and accessible. You'd hate for people to judge you negatively before you've even uttered a single word.

While You Speak

3. Make Eye Contact

Even if you're nervous, have an armful of notecards and a powerpoint presentation - you need to face the audience and look at them. This allows you to connect and helps SHOW you value them.

4. Talk With Them - Not AT them

All speeches should be conversations, even though you're the only one talking. You need to assess the audience on a personal level. It helps to acknowledge them--not in a vague way, in a specific way. "I'm delighted to be here" isn't as good as "I'm delighted to be here to talk with you." Be clear and direct.

5. Demonstrate that You Know What they Want

Don't hide behind what you offer. Show the audience that you know exactly what they need and how you WANT to solve their problems. Place a sense of importance on the issues that your audience faces and a sense of excitement regarding your services and the kind of progress you can achieve. Please note a sense of excitment does not mean "talk loud."

6. The Subject can be boring but the Story cannot be boring.

There's no doubt that you have a goal for this speech but remember that you are in control. What you are talking about might be boring but if the speech reflects that - you've lost. Paint a picture, weave in specifics and give the audience something to take away. Be memorable, useful - even if the tip is only loosely connected to the goal of your event. And of course - keep it moving. Don't take three sentences to get a point across when you could say it powerfully in one.

7. Be aware of what you do

Every movement on a stage is magnified. When you cross your legs, people notice. When you scratch your face, people notice. When you play a thumb war with yourself, people notice. So be cool. People see everything. Breathe. Don't be afraid of a pause just maintain your confidence.

8. The Wrap Up: Dealing with Questions and Silence

Depending on the audience and type of speech, it may be appropriate to ask if anyone has questions. It's possible you'll be met with silence. Remember how nervous you were to speak in front of people? Well many people who are sitting in chairs don't like to raise their hand and ask questions in front of people either. Try to make the environment more casual by sitting in a chair at the front of the stage. This is why it's so important to create a conversation atmosphere. It makes people feel comfortable to talk with you. If you do have several people with questions - maintain your control and stay on topic. Don't spend 10 minutes answering one person's question when you know there are 5 others. If a question dives off topic then offer to speak with that person individually.

Don't Speak

And then [pause] boom! It hit me!
In conclusion, I'd like to tell you a story. It all started way back in …

If you work with small businesses like us you start to recognize the cries for help when a usually spotless reputation shows the dark mark of an almost unspeakable villain...the unhappy customer.

"Yelp! I've Gotten a Bad Review - Now What?"

We understand your plight. Used to be that when you or your employee had a bad day that affected a customer or a product malfunctioned - you only had to worry about who that individual could tell in their circle of friends. Now with the advent of the internet and jumbo review sites like Yelp.com - you have to worry that one bad experience could haunt you for the rest of your career (or worse lead to the end of it)

So what do you do when your business gets a bad review on user sites like Yelp?

Step 1 - Breathe & Step Away

If you're an entrepreneur, it's only natural that you will take a negative review personally. This is normal however it can make responding the right way more difficult. Even if the review is completely wrong or overly hurtful - this is not the time to get into an argument online. This is why we recommend stepping away for an hour or a day to cool off . You'll feel much more in control and prepared to respond properly.

Step 2 - Review Your Customer Service Policy

While you're cooling off, you might review your policy for handling issues that come up during face-to-face service issues. How would you handle an unhappy customer who asks to speak with the manager? What would you say? Apply this same logic to how you want to handle an unhappy online reviewer.

Step 3 - Respond Diplomatically

Now that you're ready to respond. Be civil and professional. Remember they reviewed your business, not you - therefore your business is responding. You may not care about what people think of you but what others think of your business will have reprucussions.Try to show empathy and concern for the reviewer's feelings and show you care. Offer a solution when appropriate. Review sites like Yelp offer free review response tools to allow public or private responses. A private message is akin to sending a direct email to the reviewer whereas a public comment will be posted directly under the user's review and is visible to everyone.

Responding with a public comment can be a great option to shed light on the specific situation or show your willingness to rectify the issue.

Step 4 - Continue to be Engaged

Actively read and respond to future reviews, both positive and negative. People like to know that their comments are heard and appreciated by a business. Remember that you will grow as a business as you consider criticism and make changes that improve your customer service. Continue to tell your clients and customers to share their positive experiences on sites like Yelp and soon the good reviews will outweigh the bad ones.

What if....

"I'm too emotional to respond?" If you find that it is too difficult to calmly address online reviews then it might be necessary to appoint someone else (an office manager or trusted employee) to manage reviews.

"The review violates the site's policy?" If you think a review violates the review site's terms of service you can flag it for evaluation by the site's support team. Again, a negative review does not violate most policies so be sure you educate yourself on types of reviews that are likely to be deleted.

"A review is missing?" Sites like Yelp rely on an algorithm that determines which reviews will be displayed on a business's page on the site. Sometimes positive and negative reviews wind up in a filtered section, leading business owners to think reviews have been deleted. Reviews from users who violate Yelp's policy and have had their account removed may be deleted altogether without any action by the business.
Small Business Saturday 2012 is November 24th, less than 2 months away! If your a small business you might be teetering on the fence of whether you should participate in this annual "Shop Small" Extravaganza. Maybe you're a new entrepreneur. Perhaps you've heard rumors or noticed the television ads sponsored by American Express.

The time to leap off the fence is here and we've got 5 Reasons you should throw your hat in on Small Business Saturday!

1. Be a part of a Nationwide Campaign

American Express sponsors Small Business Saturday which means (drumroll)....MONEY! This is a huge nationwide marketing campaign pushing consumers (ie: YOUR customers) to shop their local businesses on Saturday, November 24th (Why that Saturday? Black Friday is the day before and Cyber Monday is not far behind). Think of how much it costs to run television ads, direct mail, run social media campaigns and spread the word - now imagine that ALL of that is being done for you. All you have to do is tell all of your customers and clients that you're participating and then be open for business that day.

2. FREE Marketing Resources to Help You Participate

The people who coordinate Small Business Saturday couldn't make it any easier to participate. And in fact they've even provided free professionally designed marketing materials, tools and resources. All of these great items can be found at www.shopsmall.com!

3. Get Exposure as a Participating Business on ShopSmall.com

As we get closer to Small Business Saturday, a really cool feature will be added to the ShopSmall website - a map showing people where to shop. If you're a business who accepts American Express (and I would advise that for this one day - figure out how to make that happen if you don't) then when you complete the form saying "Yes, my business is participating!" - your business will be listed on the map. This means when a local consumer looks for businesses to shop with on the site - you're there! Can you say more free advertisement????

4. Get Free Online Advertising

This is where the early bird really gets the worm! Right now you can go to ShopSmall.com and fill out a form to be included in free online advertising. American Express is providing free geo-targeted online ads that drive traffic to your Facebook page or website. The ads will be featured in the Small Business Saturday media plan in November. There are some limitations for the types of business who can receive the free ads and of course there are only so many ad slots available (but still lots by comparison) so again - be the early bird.

5. One Hundred Million Reasons

That's how many people shopped small businesses last year on Small Business Saturday. Don't you want a piece of that action? Yes? Start thinking about a special or incentivised deal that you can offer just to the people who buy from you on that day. This isn't the time to offer the "same old same old." Really think about something that will bring people in and make them want to buy from your business on November 24th. Once you get people in the door, they are more likley to buy more and buy later so this is a fabulous opportunity you cannot afford to miss out on.
According to Squidoo.com...

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: large;">Squidoo makes it easy to build custom pages about the things you know and love

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">On Squidoo, you can write a page. A single webpage, focused on a single topic.

Then you can build another page. And another one. And another. Each page on a different interest. Tell a story, recommend a product you love, share an experience you had, teach someone something, pay tribute to a person you admire (an author, band, your mom... ) and so much more.

We call these pages lenses because they snap your point of view into focus. <span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">It's simple to write a lens. And of course, it's free. Even if you build 100 of them! You can also start to earn royalties from your writing, when the pages earn their way up in the site and when readers start interacting with them.

<span style="font-family: "courier new";">

So how could this help your business?

Well as much as we like the idea and cool verbiage of a "lens" you could also think of these pages as landing pages that could help bring people to you! A landing page is a page on a website that concentrates on one idea or one product or one service with a push to get the visitor to do something (ie: click a link, visit another page, buy now, become a fan, share etc).

Landing page = single page with a point and a GOAL

This does not mean you have to turn the sales meter way up and push a sell on your landing page or squidoo lens - it just means you should know your goal when you create your page.

Make Bridges to Your Island (aka as Links)

When you create your lens on Squidoo - think of it as a cool little island. Make it happening by putting original and unique content on it that is worthy of reading. Again remember your goal and make sure you are catering to the audience that would love to visit your little island. Now before you're done think about how to connect your island to the rest of the world wide web.

Obviously, your island is connected to the Squidoo universe by one solid and steady bridge (they are the ones providing the lens space) but does your island lead anywhere? How else can people make it to your cool little patch of sand? Think about what kind of sites are relevant to your lens and see if there is a way you can link your content out. This way, you are adding value to people who read your lens. Then also think of how to link to your island from your website, your blog and other social sites. Make tons of bridges that lead to and from your lens to ensure quality activity.

It's all about an Archipelago

Once you've finished your first island (lens) - take a breather and then make another. Why? Because each lens will connect to one another through your profile and the more you create, the more likely you are to get noticed. Think of it like a magazine. You pick up a magazine to read multiple articles, not just one. And people like it that a new magazine comes out on a regular basis providing timely info. It's the same concept with your Squidoo lenses. Create pages that are timely, cool, informative, funny, heart wrenching and more. The variety, the quality and the quantity will help you get noticed in the Squidoo community and in search engines.

Perhaps you have an idea for a lens that seems risky...should you do it? 9 out of 10 times we'll say yes. Why? Because search engines and those surfing the web love new ideas. Try it out. It's just an island (lens) and there is nothing set in stone that you have to love every lens equally. Just remember to keep it focused with a point and goal and you'll be discovering new islands like a true explorer. Happy Voyaging!

Sometimes, when writing a blog or social media post - you need a symbol. It could be the ♂ or Φ or ♥ or maybe even £. Going through your document software to insert the symbol can be annoying or depending on your comfort level - downright impossible. And in cases of social media - you don't get those kind of formatting options.

Cue the Alt Codes

We've all seen a friend or colleague use a little ♫ here or a cute ☼ there or maybe reference the Chinese Yen ¥ easily in an email. Now you can also look cool (and of course, professional) by using alt codes.

How to Make an Alt Code

Alt codes are created using the 'Alt' key on your keyboard and the number keys on the right side of your keyboard.

Step 1 | Hold down the Alt Key

Stap 2 | Punch in the number for the code you want

Step 3 | Release all keys (the symbol will appear)

Popular Alt Codes the We Recommend You Get Familiar With

Alt 7 = •
This code is great for making a manual bullet point without worrying about formatting. It can also divide content on websites (ie: Company Name • Phone • Website)

Alt 13 = ♪
Want to reference a song or lyric? Use the music notes. You could also double up with Alt 14 = ♫

Alt 124 = |
If you start paying attention - you'll see the vertical line everywhere. Like the bullet point, it also works great to divide content such as categories. (ie: Business | Personal | Retail | Wholesale)

Alt 175 = »
This is a great code to use when making a link. The double arrows are more universally known as "click here" or "click to go" so using this in your email or website can be positive. (ie: Click to Read More » ) Or you can use the opposite double arrow to create emphasis. (ie: » Go Here « )
